You're one up on me. I don't have a clue how to launch FPLoader from the command line.

You can open the FP executable without BAM and edit the preferences or adjust settings anywhere in it. The only exception is that "Model Quality" must be set to High or BAM won't work correctly (You probably got that already after reading my guide). BAM also has its own settings after you open the menu when playing a table like on the "Config" screen. Ravarcade is able to revise parts of FP through BAM but leave other parts of it intact. He can make FP do just about anything he wants.

The only CFG file you can open with Notepad is "bam.cfg". The other CFG files look like gibberish when you open them with Notepad.

I know almost nothing about hardware. When I buy a new PC, I just walk into a store and tell them to get me the best PC they have. About all I can say is that graphics cards seem to cause more problems for guys on the forum than anything else. You should talk to TerryRed who has a nice pincab. Terry has a forum topic that he frequently updates here:

Please note that I revised Step 7 to list the XML files that are included in version 1.4-189 of BAM.

I added a new section titled "Performance Monitor" under the "BAM Tips and Tricks" section. It describes what happens when you press F9 during a game.

new user, needed a post to keep from being deleted. Looking to update BAM to the most current version. Is there an easy way to do that?

http://www.ravarcade.pl/beta/FP-BAM-setup.exe

Latest post from Rav
In comparison to last version:
- New Table and additional demo table (BigIndian) - removed. (i don't know i anyone want it)
- No more FP download. This version will install both, FP and BAM, at once.
- This version will not allow to select Program Filse or network drive as target.
- At begin of installation you will see 2 license pages. First is FP, second is BAM.
- This version will also modify context menu from file explorer. Now "open" or "play" from context menu will open FP with BAM (will start FPLoader.exe).

This is still "beta". I will add page with link to FuturePinball.com.

here's the thread for that.

You can follow Blue's advice above or follow my guide named "Updating BAM to a New Version" in the "BAM Tips and Tricks" section. Either way should retain your settings.

Great stuff! It's one thing deriving classical mechanics equations in engineering physics classes and another thing programming this stuff for games.

I may have to buy you a case of Lech :-)

OOPS, this was supposed to go to the flipper breakthrough thread. Sorry!

Hi George is there a way to turn off the text that pops up when you start a table via BAM?
I've looked through the menus and config file and I don't see any setting for it.
I get this at the bottom of my screen everytime:

BAM Camera: Global 1

Thanks

You must have pressed "C" on your keyboard at some point. This key cycles through several camera views. You can press "C" repeatedly and cycle through the options. On my PC, the display turns off after a few seconds.

The most popular view used to be "Full Table 2". You can change it to this view by pressing F2 on your keyboard. There are other views that you can try by pressing F1 through F8, F10 and F11. You can press F8 several times to cycle through several other views.

I am unaware of any options to change how long the text is displayed. I assume it never turns off on your PC. About all I can suggest is to press "C" or the different function keys a few times and see if it starts turning off after a few seconds.

Thanks George. I am running it on a virtual pin cabinet and it was only popping up for a few seconds but it was distracting.
I cycled through the camera options and leaving it on 'BAM Camera: Future Pinball' fixes the problem. It doesn't display anything the next time I start the table :)
