Yup.

Here is another debug bam:
https://www.ravarcade.pl/debug/BAM.dll
This version should fix error from your crash report.

I tested on Win 10 / GTX 660 and drivers 388.13
All works fine, so problem is elsewhere.

It is interesting but I tried your new BAM.dll and the demo table still crashed but it produced no crash report. I found the problem. I always play tables from the *.fpt file as I describe in the following posting:

viewtopic.php?f=55&t=5653

When I play the demo table as I describe in the posting, it crashes. I have noticed that FP remains running in the background after it crashes.

The demo table plays correctly when I open the "FPLoader.exe" and then open the demo table in the FP editor and then press the play button in the editor.

Has anyone tried launching the demo table from PinballX? I think PinballX launches and plays tables in the same manner that I describe in my posting. I suspect the demo table may crash if it is launched with PinballX or other front end.

@GeorgeH:
I'm now able to reproduce your problem.

For unknow to me reason loading from FPT file don't work for you.

Update.
Workaround don't work. So, i removed it.

I think we need to fix this if at all possible. PinballX, Hyperpin and a new one called PinUp all bypass the FP editor and just play the table directly. I am not absolutely sure but I think all of the front ends launch tables in more or less the same way as my shortcut method. I don't have a pinball cabinet so I don't use a front end other than my shortcut method on my desktop PC (so I can't test it).

another BAM beta (v217):
https://www.ravarcade.pl/beta/BAM.dll

- crashes "by GeorgeH" solved (need GeorgeH confirmation)
- in Shadow Maps menu, keyboard shortcut in line with selected light source, SHIFT+INSERT, SHIFT+DELETE will add/delete shadow map (no need to move menu cursor)
- preview of shadow map is now white/grey and positioned correctly in bam menu
- shadow map generation errors fixed: (1) invisible objects (with fully transparent texture) will not create shadows, (2) flasher 3d model can sometimes cast shadow for own light (fixed now)
- shadows rendering for some flashers was missing (fixed)
- few more not needed disk i/o operations removed

It works good. I will have to try shadows on some other tables now!

Would someone that has PinballX installed try launching the "shadow map demo table" from PinballX? I think PinballX launches tables in the same way as my shortcuts but I am not positive.

Thanks!

Rav,

This is really minor but I have noticed you created a pretty neat icon for the "BAM-Tracker.exe" file in the BAM folder but the "FPLoader.exe" file has no icon. Since everyone creates shortcuts to "FPLoader.exe", you should add the icon to it as well.

@GeorgeH:
Nope. FPLoader.exe have long history of "why antivirus delete it". So, we will not change any bit in it until there will be realy good reason.

... and another BAM-beta:
https://www.ravarcade.pl/beta/BAM.dll

This is release candidate.

Last update to shadows on playfield:
- remove specular light reflection from main light. (You will no see bright spot when move camera over center of playfield and you look down).
- added switch to remove flippers from shadow maps.
- added support for semi transparent surfaces. Transparent surface will now pass some light, but not all.
- added "Ambient light" - shadow map used for main light.... this is probably biggest visual update.

Thanks Rav, will give this a shot.

Could you add new explanations for the new "Ambient light" feature in the shadow maps in the shadow map thread?. A couple settings are different, like Altitude and at edges, I'm playing with the numbers still. The radius goes to a far greater max than the others as well.

Now a couple questions. Are the shadow maps affected by the Z order of objects? I'm missing shadows on most of my right side of the table, so it may be a problem with how my objects are drawn (or a graphics card thing)
I had problems with the entire right side actually, no shadows showed at all, but manually deleting the cache and regenerating it a couple times till it actually showed. I have 21 bulbs and 6 flashers BTW, but seems to be working now.

The second is you had mention problems with the script interfering sometimes. I have this strange problem, in that one bulb just continues to blink even after the game is started. It switches itself off when the ball interacts with the code for it. I've tried everything, including writing the code in the script to turn those bulbs On, but the bugger still blinks. Now, here's the weird thing, I switch the bulb to "OFF" in the editor, which fixes that bulb, but then another bulb set in the shadow map then starts to blink. It seems to work from the bottom up. I switched off the sling bulbs, another bulb just starts to blink. Weird problem, but it happens. pretty sure I will fix it, but was this what you were referring too?

And finally.... My editor is crashing again. Here's the code:
Code:

It seems very irregular. Most of the time, it loads fine, but every once in a while it crashes. The only thing different is I had to change my compatibility settings back to Windows 8.1 from xp service3, as the x64 version will crash every time I open and try to use the Imagelist manager.

Hi all,

Since I install Windows 64bits I have a lot of issue too, crashes, No plugins available etc...

I don't think this is Windows the guilty but I suppose the Video drivers, at least in my case because my config is the same only the video drivers for my GeForce 295GTX are now 64bits and new version of OpenGL etc...

Well maybe we have to investigate on this way...
