Hey Rav, have you had a chance to tinker with Pinball Arcade yet? An amazing Virtual Reality mod was created last year that worked great with the Oculus Rift that hooked into the app to provide a full VR experience when playing. Check it out here -

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pinball-vrcade

"Pinball VRcade supports Oculus Rift DK2 positional tracking so that you can actually walk around the cabinet, lean over to examine the back playfield, and look up to watch things on the DMD. It's almost like being at a real table.
The patch works by hooking the graphics calls made by Pinball Arcade and inserting extra operations to take control of the camera and enable stereo support. The patch doesn't contain any code from Pinball Arcade itself - it simply intercepts graphics calls and re-translates them to a stereo render, similar to products like vorpx, but specifically tuned for Pinball Arcade. I've released the source code into the public domain, so feel free to hack on it!"

As well, another talented developer created a FreeCam mod that he has posted on the TPA forums that gives cab user some functionality with the views. Apparently Farsight don't mind if you hack into their app :)

There are hundreds of cab users waiting for cabinet mode with TPA, I pretty sure BAM could provide this function and more! What do you think?

Thanks Rav, you made my day! If BAM support for TPA ever came that had a solid cabinet support interface and head tracking, the cab owners over at the TPA forums would freak out! They have been asking for cab support for years! Thanks again!

Hi Rav,
Wasn't expecting it or even aware of what it was, but my daughter gave me a dk1 Oculus rift for Christmas, that she bought cheap from a friend....

I am playing around with TPA and occulus rift patch and while the tracking is amazing, at least on my system the resolution isn't great.

Also TPA physics seems really bizarre to me, especially the nudging

Ravarcade, I wonder how difficult it would be to create an Oculus plugin for BAM ?
Here are the codes that were used to enable Oculus for TPA:
https://github.com/cbdillon/PinballVRcade

I note that Oculus has also been enabled for Unit 3d

With the upcoming general release of Occulus in the next year (with better specs) ,
I am sure more and more people will become interested in this

Thanks for your thoughts

Right now, not.
On next BAM release: maybe.
I already start to make preparation.
BAM for TPA and Oculus like devices support are next things for BAM.

WHAT? NEXT YEAR? SO SOON! Where is my Delorean....
... I'm back. Only 20 hours left to pre-order for final version.

very cool.

For those wondering about the Oculus, it is basically a high resolution display contained in
a set of "Ski Goggles" that is magnified by interchangeable eye lenses.

so it is like having a computer monitor strapped to your head :D

it has a display port HDMI connection to function as a monitor and then a USB connection
for the positional software-controlled function for 3d head tracking.

It is pretty cool and provides a totally immersive 3d environment. If the resolution is adequate this will replace the need for a cabinet for a lot of people...

I recently tried the cool underwater app called "Ocean Rift" and truly is like scuba diving
with the sharks...

Hello Rav, have you thought about working with NoEX the developer of the Pinball Arcade FreeCamMod? He is also working on a TPA VR patch with his mod. Check out his latest post here.

Thanks for your update!

Things to note:
- table is roated, but TPA menu and hud not.
- table is drawed in "BAM view" - assymetric view.

Now time to add head tracking.... maybe this weekend.

Hello Rav, thanks for your hard work! Since you're going to support the Rift, I was wondering if you'd be supporting the HTC Vive as well?
