You're right steve , unity free version can do lots of awesome things but has no plugin support and has lots of graphics limitations.
If you want to call native libs ,you need the pro version.
I'm not sure but if think Activex are not allowed in the indie version. So ... no VPM

You can have a look at the licenses comparison here:

how about starting a donation effort?... i will glady contribute

i think this is also discussed in "romulan-territory", so maybe "neutral zone" should start this first (just joking, no offense to anyone... unity is also a great name for the dev-tool) ;)

As far as I remember, we didn't end up using the animation in things hand.
It was controlled by the script.
But this means this engine has one advantage already, built in animations on the toys. :)

This looks like outstanding work and seems very promising indeed.

Maybe I am missing something here but my big question - Is this going to be open source as soon as the first general public version is complete?

I mean this with no disrespect when I say I don't think the pinball simulation community needs another close sourced 3D pinball setup.

i think, as long as it is using Unity3D, that engine can not be open source...
Unity3D-Engine is, like the Cry3D-Engine, available as a free version, but it is closed source (not open source)...
that project will be depending on forever to that engine.

http://unity3d.com/
http://www.myCryENGINE.com

even if the rest of that project will be open source at some point in the future...
it won't be easily possible to change to an other open source engine.

as i understood louizou, the unity-project-files (source-code) will be available for both vp & fp community... but you will need a valid unity-3d license to use that source, compile it & distribute the .exe

and that license should be bought/provided to louizou... thats de facto 750$ per community (1$ per member? sounds good to me)
