Hopefully this thread is useful to people.
Here is a summary of suggestions for VR Rooms for Future Pinball:
1.If you don't care, just use standard FP games Room

2.Otherwise uncheck "Render Games Room" in FP "Video/render options"

3.If you are making one simple room with all walls the same, import Tomasaco model with all four walls combined and then import also the floor/ceiling model

4.If you are making one simple room but may want all walls different, then import the 6 Tomasaco models , one for each wall

5.If you want selectable and numerous rooms that change with script and game events, then use the miniplayfield mod in BAM and use large overlays as Walls, Ceiling and Floor

6.If you convert room furnishings (Doors, switchs, pool tables, chairs, game machines etc..) to "Toys" using FP Model Editor, then you can move them around in script with Tx,Ty,Tz commands. You can also use FPM Editor to import table FPM models and convert them back to MilkShape ms3d models. You can then open them in MilkShape program, enlarge them and change their default position.

7.Bam Miniplayfield Mod can be used not just for overlays, but any object as well, and you can use the simple "MoveTo" command to move things in and out of Room.

8.An options menu can integrated into the table DMD , to get rid of pop up overlays,
that can not be seen in VR headsets...

Regards,

Gimli

Did you use miniplayfield to switch rooms as you did in the video?

Blindpeser wanted a simpler room on CFTBL that doesn't use as much memory as my current room. Do all of the switchable rooms load into memory when the table is loaded?

The room walls in the video
are just overlays ,scaled and positionned using BAM, that grab images from
the imagelist one at a time.
so only 6 images are loaded at a time

The switching of images, is script based, using the standard FP code for all overlays

I believe loading room models takes more cpu than overlays

All the toys are loaded at once.

Every table has a few visual tricks that extend beyond reality, which can become jarring at times..... the last thing you want is a repeated irritation. In general however, the balance between visual flourishes and clean design is well balanced. The game could, perhaps, offer an option to disable the external animations for those who just want to concentrate on the machine.

BAM VR was the first VR Pinball Game thanks to Ravarcade.
It has the major advantage of hundreds of free tables that are completely customizable.
unlimited options

In recent months, several others have beome available
Stern Pinball Arcade

Very Well done, few configurarion options, Straight Forward but Cool Virtual Acade Room
Has Actual Tables

Pinball Fx2 VR

Very Well Done, Few configuaration optons. Amazing for Some Distracting VR enhancments. Dream tables only
and
Zaccaria Vr

Haven't tried. Not many tables

It has always been a balance between "Eye Candy" and authentic game play.
A hybrid approach where you try to please everyone often, pleases no one.

As I play with adding Games Rooms, I am aware of this tension, but it problably is a losing proposition.

In Jaws VR, I have:

1. Enabled a 'void black room' setting so the standard FP Arcade Room can be used
without other stuff messing it up. I did add a back wall and a chair to complete the room
2. Created 2 "Games Rooms" with conventional models that stay static and once chosen will inactivate all the eye candy and animation mumbo jumbo :D
3.Created 2" Themed Rooms" that have Jaws themed room models
4.If one of the two Themed Rooms is Chosen, then "Jaws Attack Mode" is an option
that will cause some animation stuff to happen throughout the Game.
(Includiing "Environment changes", "moving floor" , "Animated Shark that attacks" and
the opening Big Sreen movie, on all Walls, which is a High Def video of the Opening scene from Jaws.)

If 1 or 2 are chosen, or if "Shark Attack" is turned off , then all the distracting nonsense
will be turned off , until switched back on.

Sorry for all the videos, but the intention is just to provide an example and stimulate
diaologue and development of BAM's amazing potential in Virtual Reality.
