I need a new free image hosting site. I used Photobucket for years but the links to it stopped working. I'd like the new one to display the image on the forum like we used to be able to do with Photobucket. Is there a new hosting site that works with a link inside the tags as shown below?

Interesting. Too bad it is not in English but I might still be able to use it.

I have found Flickr which has been in business for a long time and has 1 TB of free disc space which is more than I need. If you have a Yahoo e-mail account, you use the same login ID and password that you use to open your e-mail (which was a little confusing to me at first). After you upload your image, you click on the "Share Photo" option on the bottom right of the web page. This brings you to 4 options:

Share - This provides a link which opens your image on one of their web pages. This option is not very useful on this forum but you may find use for it elsewhere. It simply works like this:

https://flic.kr/p/WtnG68

Embed - This option is supposed to allow you to embed your image in a web page. This "Embed" option doesn't work on this forum. I pasted a sample below of what the option provides. Even though this option doesn't work, you can use the portion in red below and add it to the "Img" tags on the forum and it will work. You can scale the size of the image as I describe in the "BBCode" section below and the scaling will work even when you only use the portion in red below.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/georgeh/35753043073/in/dateposted-public/" title="Screenshot"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4350/35753043073_0f995a4921_z.jpg" width="600" height="482" alt="Screenshot"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Email - You can email your image. I haven't tried this option and would hesitate using it. You would be providing an email address to Flickr which could spam them although I don't know if they do this.

BBCode - This option works perfectly on this forum without making any changes. You can just copy the code off the option in Flickr and paste it to this site unchanged. It allows you to change the size of an image. You can make an image smaller than the original but not larger. This option is pretty useful because you can scale a wide image to be 800 pixels wide. This forum only accepts images 800 pixels wide and smaller. The BBCode option allows you to add images without having to change the size of your image. You can just scale the image to be 800 pixels wide even if it's native size is wider than that.

This is the code I got from Flickr. It does add some stuff at the end that you will probably want to delete.

Code:
[url=https://flic.kr/p/WtnG68][img]https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4350/35753043073_0f995a4921_n.jpg[/img][/url][url=https://flic.kr/p/WtnG68]Screenshot[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/georgeh/]GeorgeH[/url], on Flickr

This is a sample of just pasting the code from the Flickr site onto this forum:

This is a sample where I deleted the unnecessary code at the end (see below). The advantage this option has over using the red portion of the "Embed" code that I describe above, is it produces a clickable image. This could be useful to the end user because the image can be viewed in its native size after the end user clicks on it if you used the scaling when you set the image up. ...So it might be useful to intentionally upload a large image to Flickr and then scale it to fit on the forum which the end user could click on to view a larger image.

You can delete the portion of the code that says:

Code:
[url=https://flic.kr/p/WtnG68]Screenshot[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/georgeh/]GeorgeH[/url], on Flickr

This is the web address to the site:

I started replacing links to images I had posted on the forum using PhotoBucket with replacements that I had posted on Flickr. After I replaced a few images, the links on PhotoBucket that I hadn't replaced yet suddenly started working again. The rest of you may want to try this.

We will see how long it lasts.

Short lived. PhotoBucket still wants us to pay for hosting images. I guess I will continue converting over to Flickr.

Too complicated. I use PixHost, similar to the old (& gone) Imagebam, and free. Doesn't require registering, unlimited uploads, and free. Has all the features.
