You will note I have not put forth any accusations of misbehaving. I get the frustration everyone is feeling, especially with FP development where it is. It's just a line that's problematic when crossed. There are legal reasons relevant to this site not just to the person doing the hack. There's headaches for authors when someone is playing a given table with the wrong EXE... and we get multiple versions of a table which is a headache of it's own. It's not so black and white.
Although I do get frustrated with some who have trouble understanding the other side of why it's not ok to go there (it comes off to me more as a "gimme gimme" attitude"), the bottom line is we all want a better working FP.
If Black were to just say "I don't give a shit what's done with the EXE" that would be helpful but I'm one who does not see that ever coming. From a developer perspective, this is still his "baby" and athough he may not want to develop it further, that doesn't mean it's no longer his puppy.
For what it's worth, I don't doubt you have the best interest at heart, none whatsoever. I think you've done fine work with your tables, your gorgar and tron are something else and again, I don't doubt FP might very well play much better with your settings.
I'm personally hoping some one can develop a memory patch that accomplishes the same thing. Then it's a moot point. But my #1 preference would be to just see those settings become part of the table, not the exe. Both of these would make this "issue" go away.

I appreciate your point of view Loafer but it's looks like the FP Development team have long gone so the chances of FP ever getting an official patch are almost non existent. So we either stick with the old physics forever or we make our own changes. I vote for the latter!
I have advised that the use of the new update may cause issues with older tables so it's really down to the individual.

If I gave a program to people to play free, it means I want them to enjoy themselves -- that I get pleasure from the people having a good time with it. I have no doubt that all our great authors experience just that type of pleasure form providing tables to the community. So if there are bugs in the program, why would I be adverse to them fixing it? Do I want them to enjoy the program or not? It would be like an author providing a table with a bug, and not only refusing to fix it but forbidding anyone else to fix it as well. If I really was the guy providing the program, I would get pleasure that people tweaked it so they could enjoy it that much more. That's why our authors work so hard to improve their tables. I'd bet Randy Davis enjoys the knowledge that people are having a lot of fun with his (improved) program, why wouldn't he? I understand that people and issues are more complex than that, but I wanted to shed a little light on the illogical aspect of it.

So it can be quite understandable that Black doesn't (didn't ?) want to give the full version of the software for free

My concern with the new physics is having to maybe keep track of releases/upgrades and what version of Future Pinball.exe to use. Maybe the name of the tables can somehow designate it was made with the new physics in mind. My 2 cents.

edit... ok you just made me get my old albums out again. Not that I wasn't a Perfect World, Prodical Son, and the rest of the standard hits fan... but Bruce's voice really blew me away with that album. This is a great version of Centaur! Thank you You know, chaos is going to post a 17 billion screen of this... he is completely untouchable on this table.

i agree with what ShoNuff said sounds like a good idea to easier be able to keep track of what tables support the new physics or maybe a list with games that does

I'm pretty good at it on Guitar Hero too! rehab wrote: the physics are amazing! Great table, thanks! Bet you never thought you'd say those words about Future Pinball! genesislover wrote: i agree with what ShoNuff said sounds like a good idea to easier be able to keep track of what tables support the new physics or maybe a list with games that does I'll leave that down to you to organise your tables how you see fit. But I can guarantee that every table I release from now on will work perfectly with the new physics. Most older tables will also work fine with the new physics but if you do find an issue with one of them let me know and I'll make a quick fix or isolate that table to a folder within you FP installation.
